Heavy two handed weapons still do a decent job againt armor.
You will be able to slay unarmored opponents easy, but going up againt armored enemies requires you to use the right weapon for the job.
The best kinds of light armor you can find is padded, followed by leater and lastly cloth. Generally plate and chainmail is the best you can find in terms of armor vaule and should all be considered heavy armor, medium armor is chainmail hoods with no plate. I looked through every piece of armor and determined the armors stats depening on how it looked in game, my own knowledge about how armor works and a bit for balance as well.Unarmored heads and chests are the most vulnerable parts so helmets and body armor is extra important for survival.
